It can be used for concerns including sun damage, freckles, post-inflammatory pigmentation and melasma, and is suitable for a wider range of skin tones than many traditional light-based pigmentation treatments.

 

PicoFX

PicoFX focuses more on skin texture and collagen. It creates tiny areas of controlled disruption beneath the skin to stimulate a repair response and new collagen production. We use it to improve concerns such as pitted acne scarring, enlarged pores, fine lines, uneven texture and some types of scarring.

Targeted Pigmentation

For individual benign pigmented spots, Pico Laser can be used to precisely target areas such as freckles, sunspots and age spots. The pigment may temporarily darken after treatment before gradually fading as the skin clears it.

 

Tattoo Removal

Pico Laser can target unwanted tattoo ink using ultra-short pulses of energy that break the ink into smaller particles, allowing the body to gradually clear them. Enlighten SR can treat a range of tattoo colours and ink densities, whether you're looking for complete removal or lightening before a cover-up.

How does Pico Laser work?

Pico Laser delivers energy in incredibly short pulses measured in picoseconds. Rather than relying mainly on heat, the rapid energy creates a photoacoustic effect that breaks pigment or tattoo ink into tiny particles, which the body can then gradually clear.

When used for skin rejuvenation, Pico can also create a controlled response within the skin that stimulates collagen and helps improve texture over time.

What Pico Laser feels like will depend on the treatment being performed. Pico Genesis is generally well tolerated and feels like quick, warm snaps against the skin. PicoFX and targeted treatments can feel more intense, but treatment is usually quite quick. We’ll talk you through what to expect before we begin.

Pico Genesis generally has little downtime, while PicoFX and targeted pigmentation treatments can involve redness, swelling or temporary darkening of pigment as the skin responds. We’ll explain what to expect based on the treatment recommended for you.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments will depend on what we’re treating, your skin and the results you’re looking to achieve. Some concerns may respond well after one treatment, while pigmentation, skin rejuvenation, scarring and tattoo removal will usually require a series. We’ll recommend a treatment plan after assessing your skin or tattoo.

 

Is Pico Laser suitable for all skin tones?

Pico Laser can be suitable for a wide range of skin tones, including darker skin types. Because Pico uses ultra-short pulses of energy and relies less on heat than many traditional light-based treatments, it gives us more options when treating pigmentation in different skin tones. Suitability will always be assessed before treatment.
